Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain designed to cover the front of the teeth to improve the look of a person’s smile. At Daniel Dentistry, we custom-make these veneers for each patient so they look natural and beautiful. Typically, they are used to fix the appearance of damaged, stained, or crooked teeth.
The Veneers Procedure
Your teeth will be prepared for the veneer procedure, and a local anesthetic will be applied to the area. After the anesthetic takes effect, your dental team will remove a small amount of enamel from the tooth surface to prep it for the veneer placement. This creates a small ledge for the veneer to sit on. A mold is then made of your teeth and sent to a lab where your permanent custom veneers will be created. Temporary veneers are then placed over the teeth during your next visit. Once the permanent veneers arrive, you will return to have them placed. They will be bonded with a special cement that permanently adheres the veneers to the teeth.
To preserve your new smile and prolong the life of your veneers, be sure to practice proper oral hygiene habits — brush twice a day and floss once before bed. It would help if you also visited your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings to keep your mouth healthy for years to come. Additionally, avoid biting your nails or chewing on inedible objects such as pens or pencils to prevent accidental damage to your veneers.
The Advantages of Veneers
Fitting Perfectly To Your Teeth
Veneers are custom-crafted to fit your smile precisely. They’ll look natural and blend right in with the rest of your teeth.
Making Your Smile More Beautiful
Porcelain veneers are handcrafted to look dazzling and stunning. Our cosmetic dentist will work with you to ensure that they give you the gorgeous smile you’ve always wanted.
Covering a Wide Variety of Flaws
Porcelain veneers can cover these imperfections if you have gaps between teeth or minor chips. They’re also famous for covering up stains that don’t respond to whitening treatment.
Protecting Your Natural Teeth
Your porcelain veneers will be bonded to your natural teeth, strengthening them and helping to prevent damage in the future. Once your veneers are placed, you won’t have to worry about your natural teeth becoming damaged or worn down over time.
Easier To Clean
Since your natural teeth will remain underneath your veneers, you’ll still be able to brush and floss normally. You won’t have to worry about any special cleaning tools, either. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste to keep your smile sparkling clean.
Porcelain veneers can address various conditions affecting the smile, including discoloration and staining, chips or cracks, and minor alignment issues.
